HushBrush: Color and Learn ("we", "us") is a coloring and learning app made for children. Protecting children's privacy is our top priority. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with data.
The short version
- We do not require an account to use the app, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children for advertising.
- We show no third-party ads and use no advertising or tracking SDKs. (We may use anonymous crash diagnostics only — see below.)
- There is no chat, no social network, and no public sharing.
- By default, coloring progress and saved artwork stay on the device.
- Optional cloud backup: if a parent chooses to sign in with Google, the child's profile nickname, saved artwork and learning progress are backed up to the parent's private cloud space so they carry over to the parent's other devices. This is off unless you sign in with Google — see below.
- Some optional premium features send a short topic word or phrase to our secure server to create quizzes, facts, stories and narration. We never send your child's name, photos, drawings, or contact details.
What is stored on the device
The app saves your child's coloring pages, gallery artwork, stickers, streaks, learning stats, chosen avatar/name (a nickname you type), and app settings locally on the device. If you do not sign in with Google, this information is not transmitted to us and is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
Optional cloud backup and sync (Google Sign-In)
The app works fully without an account. If a parent chooses to sign in with Google, we enable an optional backup so the child's data follows the family to a new or additional device:
- What is backed up: the child profile(s) nickname and avatar, saved artwork (the drawings), stickers, streaks and learning statistics.
- Where: in Google Cloud Firestore (part of Google Firebase), inside a private area keyed to the signed-in Google account's unique ID. Only that signed-in account can read or write its own data.
- Sign-in identity: signing in uses Firebase Authentication, which stores the parent's Google account email and a user ID to identify the backup.
- Why: solely to save and restore the family's own content across their devices. This data is never used for advertising, profiling, or shared with third parties, and is not sold.
- Guest and email-only use stay local: continuing as a guest, or typing an email on the welcome screen without Google Sign-In, does not turn on cloud backup — that data remains on the device only.
- Turning it off / deleting it: signing out removes the backed-up data from the device. To permanently delete your account and cloud backup, sign in and use Profile → For Parents → Delete account, or email us. Uninstalling the app does not by itself delete the cloud backup.
Optional AI features (premium)
To make learning fun, premium features generate content using artificial intelligence:
- Quizzes, fun facts and stories are generated by Amazon Bedrock.
- The storyteller voice is generated by Amazon Web Services (Amazon Polly).
To provide these, the app sends only a general topic (for example the word "Lion" or "Ocean") or a short kid-safe phrase to be read aloud to our own secure server, which relays the request to AWS. We do not send any personal information, the nickname you entered, photographs, or your child's drawings. These requests are processed to return content and are not used to build a profile of your child or for advertising, and no images are uploaded from the device.
AI-generated text is guided by strict child-safety instructions and kept short and simple. AI can occasionally make mistakes; if you ever see content that seems wrong or inappropriate, please report it (see below) and we will review and improve it.
Crash diagnostics
To keep the app stable, we may use Firebase Crashlytics (a Google service) to record anonymous crash and error reports. These reports contain technical information only — such as the type of error, the device model, and the operating system version — together with an app installation identifier that is not linked to your child's name or any personal detail. Crash reports help us fix bugs and are never used for advertising or profiling. This diagnostics feature is optional and is only active in builds where it has been configured.
Purchases
Premium is an optional subscription handled entirely by Google Play Billing. Google processes payment; we never see or store payment card details. Purchases are tied to the Google account and can be restored.
Parental controls
Purchases and the parent area are behind parental controls. Parents can turn sound/voice on or off and manage or cancel the subscription in Google Play at any time.
Reporting content
Parents can report any content in the app from Profile → For Parents → Report content, or by emailing us. We review reports and act on them.
Children's privacy (COPPA, GDPR-K, Google Families)
HushBrush: Color and Learn is designed to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU GDPR provisions for children, and Google Play's Families Policy. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data deletion
Data stored on the device is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data. If you enabled the optional cloud backup by signing in, you can permanently delete your account and cloud backup from Profile → For Parents → Delete account, or by emailing us with the account you used and we will delete it. See our Account & Data Deletion page for full details.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app grows and will update the date above.
